Physical Therapy

A practitioner rests a hand on the lower back of a seated patient, who holds the spot where it hurts.

Physical therapy helps you recover from injury, manage pain, and improve how your body moves, without rushing and without cookie-cutter treatment plans. A new injury, long-standing pain, post-surgical rehab, or a movement limitation that will not resolve: our licensed physical therapist meets you where you are and builds a plan that makes sense for your body and your goals.

Each session focuses on hands-on care, targeted exercise, and movement retraining to restore strength, mobility, and confidence. We take the time to understand not just where you hurt but why, so progress lasts beyond the treatment table.

What it helps with

  • Sport-specific rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain
  • Orthopedic care: alignment, weakness, stiffness, and pain
  • Traumatic injury and surgical healing
  • Car and bike accident injuries (see car accident care)

What to expect

Visits are 50 minutes, in person or by telehealth. Wear clothes you can move in. If you are not sure physical therapy fits your situation, the American Physical Therapy Association's ChoosePT explains what physical therapists do.

Your physical therapist

Katy Kemp, DPT combines therapeutic exercise, biomechanics, manual therapy, yoga therapy, and Thai massage, and is in network with Moda, PacificSource, and Regence (see the insurance chart).

Many patients pair the passive side of care (acupuncture and massage) with the active side (physical therapy). Ready to start? Book a visit online or call 503-758-9760.

Questions and aftercare

For care after a car or bike accident, no. For other visits it depends on your insurance plan: some plans ask for a referral or prior authorization, so share your insurance details when you book and we will check what yours requires.

Visits are 50 minutes. Katy Kemp, DPT offers in-person visits, and virtual evaluations and follow-ups when a video visit makes sense; book the virtual option and the link arrives in your appointment reminder email.

Clothes you can move in.

Yes, and many patients do: massage or acupuncture to release tension and calm the nervous system, physical therapy to rebuild strength and mobility. Your providers here talk to each other when you are shared between rooms, and the front desk can help you find a good starting point.

Usually. Oregon auto policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which can cover physical therapy related to a car or bike accident, with no referral and usually no copay. See car accident care.
