Online, any time, through the Book Now button at the top of every page. It opens our scheduling system, Jane, where you can see availability by practitioner or by service, including same-day, evening, and weekend openings. Once you have an account you can view past and upcoming visits and cancel yourself up to 24 hours ahead. If nothing fits soon enough, join the waitlist and Jane will notify you when a spot opens. Prefer to talk it through? Call the front desk at 503-758-9760 and we will help you find the right place to start.

After you book, we email you our new patient intake form. Please finish it at least 48 hours before your appointment so your practitioner can read it ahead of time. The booking form also asks for your insurance details; share them at least 48 hours out and our office will do its best to check your benefits before you arrive. Then just show up a few minutes early. We will take it from there.

Our front desk is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm, with a lunch break most days between 12 and 1. Practitioners see patients seven days a week depending on the modality, so you may have an appointment outside front-desk hours. When that happens the door is locked for everyone's safety. Your practitioner will come down and let you in at your appointment time. If you are waiting and unsure, call 503-758-9760.

We are at 3125 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97214, in the stone building near Laurelhurst Park. TriMet bus 768 stops at Burnside and E 32nd. If you drive, we have four parking spots off the driveway to the right of the building, and street parking nearby is usually easy. There is also a gravel lot behind the building.

Our first floor is fully ADA accessible, with a ramp to the front door and a gravel lot in back. Many sessions are scheduled in upstairs rooms, so if stairs are a barrier, call the front desk when you book and we will make sure you are placed on the first floor. If there is anything else that would make your visit easier, tell us. We would rather know ahead of time.

Yes. A parent or legal guardian must be present for every visit for children 15 and under, and for the first visit for teens 16 and 17. If you are booking for a child under 15, please call the front desk first so we can make sure we are the right fit for your child's needs. If we are not, we will point you to other clinicians in town who are.

Acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, naturopathic medicine, mental health counseling for individuals, couples, and groups, and microneedling. Cupping is offered within acupuncture and massage visits rather than as its own appointment. We also provide acupuncture, massage, and physical therapy for car and bike accident recovery under PIP coverage. Many patients combine two or more services; the front desk can help you work out a good starting point.

Everyone. We are a queer-affirming, body-neutral practice. LGBTQIA2S+ people, and all bodies, professions, and ages, are safe and welcome here. Our priorities for your care are built around your stated goals, and we work hard to make sure you feel comfortable, respected, and honored in the room. If there is something that would help you feel at ease, tell your practitioner or the front desk.

Your records live in Jane, the practice management system we use for scheduling, charting, billing, and telehealth. Patients of our naturopathic doctors also use the Charm patient portal. Our providers keep records in accordance with HIPAA and clinic policy, and information is shared between your Mandala practitioners only to coordinate your care. If you have a question about your records or want a copy, call the front desk.

Yes we do! We are in network with most major insurance companies for all of our services. Each practitioner takes different plans, so see the chart on our Insurance & coverage page for details.

Treatment

For acupuncture and massage, wear whatever you like. You will be able to undress to your comfort level under a draping sheet, so clothing does not matter. For Rolfing, wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows movement and access to skin, such as loose athletic shorts and a sports bra or tank top. Avoid tight or thick fabrics; your practitioner needs to see and feel how your body moves, and you will be getting on and off the table. For physical therapy, wear clothes you can move in.

Acupuncture first visits are 75 minutes and return visits 60 minutes (a 90-minute return visit is available with Al Reed). Massage sessions are 60 minutes. Physical therapy visits are 50 minutes, in person or virtual. Counseling sessions are 60 minutes, and Madison Hollis offers a free 15-minute phone consultation before you commit. Car and bike accident visits follow the same lengths. Please arrive a few minutes early; the clock starts at your appointment time.

Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, nothing like the needle used for a shot. Some people find the session deeply restful; others, especially those coming for an injury, may choose stronger trigger-point work. Our acupuncturists adjust to you. If you are nervous about needles or sensitive to touch, say so when you book. Several of our practitioners specialize in making acupuncture feel safe for people who are.

It depends on what you are coming in for, how long it has been going on, and how your body responds. At your first visit your practitioner will talk through a plan with you and revisit it as you go. For microneedling specifically, we recommend a series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, since results build as new collagen forms. For everything else, ask. We would rather you know what to expect than guess.

People come to our acupuncturists for chronic and acute pain in the neck, back, shoulders, hips, and jaw, for headaches and migraines, for stress, anxiety, and burnout, for hormonal and menstrual issues, digestive complaints, insomnia and fatigue, fertility and cycle support, recovery after surgery, and injuries from car and bike accidents. Acupuncture may help where other options have fallen short, and it often works alongside the other care you are already getting. You do not need to believe in it for it to be worth trying. Read more on our Acupuncture page.

Yes. "Dry needling" simply means inserting a needle that does not inject anything, as opposed to a shot. It is an orthopedic, trigger-point style of needling that sits under the wider umbrella of what a licensed acupuncturist is trained to do. Licensed acupuncturists in Oregon complete graduate-level training that runs into the thousands of hours, including supervised clinical practice. At Mandala, all needling is done by licensed acupuncturists. If you were referred for dry needling, book an acupuncture visit and tell us what you need.

Cupping is not booked on its own. It is part of an acupuncture or massage appointment when it fits your treatment. Acupuncturists who offer cupping: Jake, Lindsey, and Al. Massage therapists who offer it: Hannah, Ro, and Maco. Book with one of them and mention cupping in your intake note or at the start of the session.

Yes, and many patients do. Acupuncture with naturopathic medicine for pain and stress alongside lifestyle factors; massage with physical therapy to release tension while rebuilding strength and mobility; acupuncture with counseling to settle the nervous system while you work on the emotional side; naturopathic medicine with counseling for the link between physical and mental health. Your providers here talk to each other when you are shared between rooms. Not sure where to start? Ask the front desk. We are happy to help you find a good first step and make the most of your benefits.

Yes. Our acupuncturists, massage therapists, and physical therapist all see patients recovering from motor vehicle and bike accidents, with a focus on reducing inflammation, calming the nervous system, improving circulation, and supporting the body's own healing response. You do not need a referral. In Oregon, your auto policy's Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits typically pay 100 percent of acupuncture and massage related to the accident, and physical therapy is covered too, so there is usually no copay. PIP benefits are time-sensitive, so do not wait. See our Car Accident Care page.

Yes, for naturopathic medicine and mental health counseling, and for physical therapy evaluations and follow-ups when a virtual visit makes sense. When you book a virtual appointment, your reminder email contains the link to join; search your inbox for "appointment reminder" and scroll down. Acupuncture, massage, and microneedling are in person. If you have trouble finding your link, call the front desk at 503-758-9760 and we will sort it out.

No. Our naturopathic doctors do not function as primary care providers, but they practice with a broad scope: diagnosing conditions, ordering and interpreting lab tests, prescribing medications, and making referrals. Visits are longer and unhurried, with real follow-up. Dr. Marie Benkley is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner focused on perimenopause and menopause; Dr. Nicole Priscal focuses on gastrointestinal, metabolic, and mental health and lifestyle medicine. Both see patients in person and by telehealth.

Billing

Our counselor, Madison Hollis, LPC, is in network with Providence, Moda, Regence, and PacificSource. Individual sessions are available in person or virtually; couples sessions are in person. If your plan is not listed, ask about private-pay rates, and consider the free 15-minute consultation to see whether it is a good fit before you commit.

Yes. Share your insurance information at least 48 hours before your visit and we will check your copay or coinsurance, your deductible status, and any visit limits or special requirements such as a referral or prior authorization. Please treat the result as an estimate. Final coverage is decided by your insurer when the claim is processed, and we can only go on what their representatives tell us. We always recommend confirming your coverage yourself as well.

Most insured visits carry a copay or coinsurance between $10 and $50. A copay is a fixed amount you pay at each visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the visit cost you pay after your deductible is met. Your plan may apply a deductible before either kicks in. If insurance ends up not covering a service, the cost of treatment is your responsibility. Published cash prices: microneedling is $225 a session, $625 for three, $1,200 for six; a 90-minute acupuncture return visit with Al Reed is $180.

Insurance companies do not guarantee coverage until a claim is processed. Benefit verification gives an estimate, and the benefits quoted to us are subject to your plan's limits at the time of service. The insurer makes the final determination, and patients are responsible for the cost of treatment if coverage is denied. That is why we encourage you to confirm your coverage directly with your plan as well.

Yes, we are happy to accept HSA or FSA payments for any of the services we offer, as well as supplements. Please check your card policies for specifics.

We ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or change an appointment. You can do it yourself in Jane up to 24 hours ahead, or call us. Changes or cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged $75, because we usually cannot fill the spot at the last minute. No-shows and repeat last-minute cancellations are charged the full cost of the visit, which cannot be billed to insurance. Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as a missed appointment and is charged as a no-show, since the full session cannot be delivered in the time left. The full policy is on our cancellation policy page.

You do not need a referral, and there is no copay. Oregon auto policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which typically pays 100 percent of acupuncture and massage related to the accident, and covers physical therapy as well. We bill your PIP claim directly and handle the paperwork. PIP benefits are time-sensitive, so book soon after the accident.

Yes. Gift cards are available through our booking site, Jane, under Buy Gift Card. Microneedling can be bought as a single session or as a three- or six-session package when you book your first appointment. To buy a package without booking, or as a gift, call the front desk at 503-758-9760.
