Massage

A massage therapist works along a man's back as he lies face down, in a warm room with French doors and a floor lamp.

Massage at Mandala is both a deeply relaxing hour for yourself and real clinical relief for pain, muscle tension, stress, and injury recovery. Each session blends skilled, trauma-informed technique with a calm, unhurried pace that supports circulation, mobility, and nervous system regulation.

Styles we offer

Between our seven massage therapists, we offer bodywork ranging from very gentle, nervous-system-focused styles to firm deep tissue work:

  • Deep tissue
  • Swedish massage
  • Thai massage
  • Myofascial release
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Rolfing Structural Integration
  • Tui na
  • Lomi Lomi
  • Maya abdominal massage
  • Shiatsu meridian therapy

Most of our therapists draw on several techniques in one session, so read their bios to find the modalities and focus areas that fit you best. Cupping can be part of a massage with Hannah Murphy, LMT, Ro Sullivan, LMT, or Maco Monthervil, LMT.

What to expect

Sessions are 60 minutes. You undress to your comfort level under a draping sheet. For Rolfing, wear loose clothing you can move in, since you will be on and off the table. Every therapist here is licensed by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists, and if you want the research picture, the National Institutes of Health has a readable summary.

Our massage therapists

  • Maco Monthervil, LMT: myofascial release, tui na, craniosacral; chronic pain, men's health
  • Thomas Friedrich, LMT: Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, Rolfing Structural Integration; injury recovery
  • Ro Sullivan, LMT: Swedish, myofascial, deep tissue, craniosacral, Thai; nervous system regulation

Many patients pair massage with physical therapy or acupuncture, releasing tension while rebuilding strength. Coverage varies by therapist: most of our massage therapists are in network with Moda and Regence, and many plans let you use physical therapy benefits toward massage. Check the insurance chart, see car accident care if you were in a crash, book online, or call 503-758-9760.

Typically, yes. Oregon auto policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which typically pays 100 percent of massage related to the accident, usually with no copay. Many accident claims cover massage without a referral, but some insurers ask for a prescription; the front desk can check yours before your first visit. See car accident care for how it works.
